VR project Fundamental Fluctuations in Spintronics - KTH
In the past decades, many theoretical understandings and designs of 2D materials have been proposed for spintronics, indicating that the combination of spintronics and two‐dimensional crystals electronics should be an ideal evolution toward nanoscale spintronics devices and make for the bottom‐up spintronics nanoengineering. Heusler alloys ofboth compositions are attractive candidates for spintronics applications and have been extensively studied over the past decade. In particular, room temperature (RT) materials with essentially 100% spin polarization (referred to as half-metallic) and high magnetocrystalline anisotropy areideal for next-generation spintronic devices. Moreover, application of optics and magnetisms together with spintronics are worthwhile to explore. Current literature survey is organized as follows. Second section summarizes some of the important spin based de-vices realized so far. Third section describes some of the conventional methods of spin injection and transport through 2004-04-23 · Various theories of spin injection and spin-polarized transport are applied to hybrid structures relevant to spin-based devices and fundamental studies of materials properties.
The primary focus is on the basic physical principles underlying the generation of carrier spin polarization, spin dynamics, and spin-polarized transport in semiconductors and metals. Spintronics, or spin electronics, involves the study of active control and manipulation of spin degrees of freedom in solid-state systems. This article reviews the current status of this subject, including both recent advances and well-established results. The primary focus is on the basic physical principles underlying the generation of carrier spin polarization, spin dynamics, and spin-polarized transport in semiconductors and metals. Recently, two-dimensional (2D) materials have been drawing tremendous attention in spintronics owing to their distinctive spin-dependent properties, such as the ultra-long spin relaxation time of graphene and Outline• Spintronics basics• The giant magneto resistance• Applications of GMR• Spin devices• Injections & detection of spin• The MRAM• Recent trends 3. What is Spintronics?• Utilizes the bizarre property of spin of electron.• Intrinsic angular momentum is spin.• Spintronics without magnetism is an attractive pathway for designing semiconductor spintronic devices since spin orbit coupling (SOC) enables that the spin is generated and manipulated merely by electric field. By the application of electric field, the electrons move in the lattice generating a magnetic field which acts up on the spin. With the help of a unique magnetic microscope, scientists found a new method for imaging magnetic fields at the nanoscale.
